Base housing is not available at Kleine Brogel. The Unit Housing Managers provide assigned members personalized service in locating suitable housing.  They are the liaison to assist you with setting up a local bank account and to explain the utilities and billing system. The Housing Office maintains a robust list of homes in the surrounding communities. The majority of assigned personnel live in or around Bocholt, Kleine Brogel, Meeuwen, Peer, Neerpelt, or Overpelt areas. Please inform your sponsor of any unique needs (ie, large family or pets) prior to your arrival. Please note: there is no waiting list and housing cannot be obtained prior to your arrival at Kleine Brogel AB. Chievres Air Base, Belgium will contact you to arrange for your household goods drop off or vehicle pick up.

Passports

Family members may travel with a tourist passport but are required to have a No-Fee Passport to include a SOFA stamp that allows them to remain in country for more than 90 days. It is suggested that spouses/dependents obtain their No-Fee Passport with SOFA stamp prior to arrival. However, if you are unable to do so you may obtain the No-Fee Passport and SOFA stamp at the Spangdahlem Military Personnel Section Passport Office. Driver’s License
Active duty member may drive with a current state driver’s license. Dependents will have to apply for a driver’s license through their local municipality.

Shipping a Vehicle
Each active duty member may ship one vehicle at the government's expense. Please contact your sponsor for more information.

DoDEA Schools

DoDEA Europe West operates schools in Belgium and the Netherlands with classes ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade. Kleine Brogel Elementary School serves children from kindergarten-5th grade and is located in Meeuwen, Belgium. Middle school and high school serves students from grades 6-12th  are held at AFNorth International School located in Brunssum, Netherlands. Door-to-door bus service is available for families with school-aged children living on the economy.

Registration for school begins anytime prior or upon arrival. To enroll in kindergarten, children must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, and 6 years old by Sept. 1 to enroll in 1st grade.

The University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) has a satellite campus located on-base offering classes for undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Family Support Center (FSC)
This office provides information, programs and activities to ease the stress associated with PSC’ing, as well as activities and programs for single Airmen and families. There is also a loan locker available with basic home necessities available for families while in temporary lodging.

Lion’s Den

The base club offers a variety of food and beverages, as well as hosting special events. Entertainment includes two 65" televisions with a satellite connection, dartboard, pool table, and a game room with PS4/Xbox 1 video game systems, table tennis, and shuffle board.

Resale Store
The store is located beside the Lion’s Den. It is similar to a small convenience store offering a variety of stateside snacks, refreshments, and hygiene necessities.
