Lt. Dan Band

SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, GERMANY -- Kimo Williams, Lt. Dan Band electric guitarist and vocals, performs at Spangdahlem Air Base May 15. Mr. Williams is the son of a career an Airman, who enlisted in the Army July 4, 1969. He was assigned to a combat engineer company building roads and clearing land in the jungle in Viet Nam in 1970. To deal with the stress of combat he took to the guitar and was discovered by an Army entertainment director who suggested that he form a band to perform for the troops in the field. For the next two months Mr. Williams and his band, "The Soul Coordinators" traveled to remote fighting areas throughout Viet Nam. (US Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Stephanie Moore)
