The sixth oldtimer and tractor meeting, a popular event in the Eifel area, takes place Aug. 20-21 in the neighboring community of Gransdorf. The event starts at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 21 with historical demonstrations including threshing techniques from the past with horse. A concert takes place 8 p.m. Aug. 21. Entry is 4 euro. Aug. 22 activities include a tractor breakfast at 8 a.m. with a church service following at 10:30 a.m. in an agricultural barn, followed by local music association performances. Lunch is served at noon with historical performances following at 1:30 p.m. Coffee and cake will be offered for a small fee in the afternoon. Food and beverages will be available throughout the event. A jumping castle and sandbox will be available for children.

See the 12th Kroev Oldtimer meeting for tractors and bulldogs Aug. 20-22 in Kroev. The event features a parade at 5 p.m. Aug. 20, live music at 7 p.m., and a fireworks display at midnight Aug. 21. The Bernkastel Middle Mosel wine festival takes place Sept. 2-6, featuring a giant fireworks display 9-9:30 p.m. Sept. 4 and a large vintners' parade through the streets of Bernkastel 2 p.m. Sept. 5.

The Bad Duerkheim sausage fair and world's largest wine festival has been a tradition for 600 years since 1412. The event takes place Sept. 10-14 and 17-20.

Cannstatter Wasen is another large and popular volksfest attracting more than 4 million visitors annually. The event features many festival tents, a parade, music and entertainment, similar to the Bad Duerkheim sausage market and Munich October festival. This year's event, the 165th Cannstatter volksfest, takes place Sept. 24 - Oct. 10. Cannstatter Wasen is located in the Stuttgart area.
