Partial Government Shutdown Impacts

The below information is currently applicable during partial government shutdown. As information changes in this fluid environment, this list will be updated.

What is NOT impacted:

Activities:

-Fa$t Ca$h Friday: Must be present to win! $3,000 Friday, Oct. 4; Club

-Members Only Breakfast: Oct. 8, 6:30-8:30 a.m., FREE; Club Eifel

-Intro to Sewing: Oct. 8 , 5-7 p.m., $20 a person, bldg 124; Arts & Crafts

-Deployed Family Dinner: Oct. 10, 4:30-7 p.m. at the Chapel Annex; AFRC

-Just London: Oct. 18-19, €120 per person; depart Spang at 10:30 p.m.; ITT

-Two-Man Scramble Tournament: Oct. 12, 9 a.m., $40 per person; Golf Course

-Give Parents a Break:  Oct. 19, 10-2 p.m., register by Oct. 11; CDC/SAP

-Family Sundays: 8-4 p.m. Kids bowl free with free shoe rentals; Bowling


Facilities and Programs:

- Base Exchange/Commissary/Gas Station: no impact

- ITT: operations continue as normal, except 3 Oct with leisure travel ticketing suspended (Local National Holiday)

- CDC: operations continue as normal

- School Age Program: operations continue as normal

- Youth Programs: Spangdahlem Teen Center operations continue as normal,  youth Instruction (gymnastics, dance) operations continue as normal

- Skelton Fitness Center: operations continue as normal

- Mosel Dining Hall: operations continue as normal

- Post Office: No impact

- Airmen & Family Readiness Center: base Newcomers Orientation continues


Military PCS:

- No impact to Military PCSs at this time


Medical:

-Healthcare services will continue

-TRICARE payment for referrals will not be affected


Financial:

-Military members and excepted DoDs civilians will receive pay and allowances through FY14


What IS impacted:

- Outdoor Recreation: Services limited to rentals only; all programming (Single Airmen, Rec On, etc.) and trips suspended

- Community Center: Open for daily use; all programming (tournaments, etc.) suspended

- Education Office: Counseling support suspended; limited testing available

- Library: Open Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat; closed Tues/Thurs until further notice

- Airmen & Family Readiness Center: AF Aid Society support delayed; other programming (transition, relocation, employment services, financial management) etc suspended

- MPS: Open normal business hours with delayed processing times due to AFPC shutdown impacts

- CPO: US APF actions suspended (staffing, announcements, certificates, discipline, etc.)

- NAF/HR: NAF actions suspended

- CDC: operations continue as normal

- Youth Programs: Bitburg Teen Center closed; Youth Sports (football, soccer, cheer) suspended


Civilian PCS:

- Civilian PCSs moves not initiated on 1 Oct paused


Education/Testing:

- Processing of Tuition Assistance not approved prior to 1 Oct paused

- AF funding for DANTES/CLEPS tests paused (members can still take the test, but at their own expense

- WAPS testing processing at AFPC paused; no projected WAPS tests currently scheduled locally


Travel:

- All TDY travel scheduled to begin after 30 Sep should be canceled unless it is considered supporting an "excepted" activity

- TDYs for PME is currently "go/no-go": call one day prior to class start date for ALS and NCOA; SNCOA pending further information

- Travel vouchers: Expect significant delays in the Air Force Financial Service Center travel voucher processing time


Housing:
- Services may be limited at the housing office

- FMO pick-up and delivery is suspended as of now


Medical:

-Patient medical travel payments will be delayed


Financial:

-Furloughed civilians will not receive pay during government shutdown

-Government Purchase Cards cannot currently be used
