As of March 31, 2014, Military Family Housing (MFH) will no longer subsidize American Forces Network television service to on-base residences.

To date, this basic service has been provided via a bandwidth lease contract with the internet service provider TKS. The 52nd Fighter Wing pays TKS approximately $37K each year to provide analog AFN television service to Spangdahlem and Bitburg family housing units. This service is not subsidized for off-base residents and has already been discontinued in all unaccompanied dorm residences. These funds are now being rerouted to facilitate the upkeep and repair of military family housing units.

However, residents can still receive a digital broadcast of all AFN channels with the purchase of any TKS cable package. The most basic cable package can be purchased for €19.99 per month and will normally be installed within one to two business days. If you currently have a TKS cable package but are not receiving any AFN channels or if you have any other cable service related questions, stop by the TKS store in The Exchange. There, you can ensure you are receiving AFN service with your subscription at no additional costs. Any cable packages purchased after August 2013 should already include the digital AFN channels.
