The 52nd Fighter Wing Judge Advocate General will open the annual tax center for Airmen ranking E-1 to E-5 and their dependents at the legal office here Feb. 16, 2016.

The center serves until June 15 and receives clients through appointments only. Upon registration, clients will be scheduled for the next available hour-long session with a volunteer who has Internal Revenue Service sanctioned training. Common times for sessions include: 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

According to U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Lezette Kennedy, 52nd FW civil law NCO in charge and point of contact for the tax center, clients will need to bring their W-2 form, dependent social security card, direct deposit information and state driver's license.

"This year the 1095-B and C health care form was released in MyPay, and the information on the form is required to be reported to the IRS," Kennedy said.

In addition, clients should also bring a copy of the taxpayer's 2014 tax return, any 1099's (interest statements from banks), 1098's (unreimbursed education expenses), and anything else they would like to claim.

"Our services are completely free," Kennedy said. "As military members, we have a lot of unusual circumstances when it comes to our federal and especially our state taxes."

If a client misses the window, Kennedy advises Military One Source, online services and local area tax offices as alternate venues for filing taxes.
