Now through Nov. 6: The Bitburg Community Bank will be closed through Nov. 6 for renovation. For customer convenience, ATMs, telephone banking and online banking are available 24/7.

Oct. 30-31: There will be a Halloween haunted house at the French Kaserne on Bitburg Annex 7 p.m. - midnight Oct. 30 and 6 p.m. to midnight Oct. 31. Children can trick-or-treat at the haunted house 6-7 p.m. Oct. 31. Local nationals can view the haunted house 7 p.m. to midnight Oct. 30-31. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Oct. 30: There will be a Texas Hold 'Em tournament Oct. 30 at Club Eifel. Check in starts at 5:30 p.m., and the tournament starts at 6 p.m. The event is free for club members. To reserve a seat, call DSN 452-4639.

Oct. 31: The Eifel Lanes Bowling Center will host Halloween bowling 5 p.m. - close Oct. 31. Those who wear a costume to glow bowling can bowl for $1.50 per game.

Oct. 31: The Spangdahlem Elementary School Parent, Teacher, Student Association will host its fall school carnival noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 31 at the elementary school. The event is open to the entire Eifel community. There will be games, food and prizes. Volunteers are needed. Oct. 31: The time for trick-or-treating on Spangdahlem Air Base and Bitburg Annex, as well as in Speicher and Binsfeld, is 6-8 p.m.

Nov. 1: The Army and Air Force Exchange Service will have a scheduled system outage affecting the ESSO Fuel Ration Card System from 5 a.m. Nov. 1 to 9 a.m. Nov. 2. Between these hours, customers will not be able to purchase fuel on base or at local ESSO stations, and will not be able to receive new fuel ration cards. The outage will occur when the U.S. observes the end of daylight saving time and is necessary to reset system clocks and perform necessary maintenance.

Nov. 2: ADAC will be offering free winter vehicle checks 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Nov. 2 and 15 on the Saber Driving Course to include checking tires, brake fluid, lights, batteries, antifreeze conditions, and a child safety seat check for proper installation. ADAC has offered this service free of charge to Sabers. The Army and Air Force Exchange Service will present door prizes and have safety equipment available for purchase.

Nov. 2: There will be a 52nd Fighter Wing Quarterly Awards Luncheon 11:30 a.m. Nov. 2 at Club Eifel. Uniform for participants at the event is service dress, for participants uniform of the day and for civilians smart casual.

Nov. 2: In honor of the "Year of the Air Force Family" the Airman & Family Readiness Center is sponsoring an information fair 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Welcome Center in Bldg. 42. There will be more than 50 organizations from the wing, local community and base organizations. Flu vaccines will also be available. Door prizes will be handed out at the event.

Nov. 2-5: There will be a pre-season double-elimination basketball tournament Nov. 2-5 with games starting at 5:30 p.m. at the fitness center. The tournament fee is $50 and is open to squadron teams only. There will be hot dogs, burgers, chips, candy bars and drinks for sale at the event. Nov. 2-13: The American Red Cross Office is announcing an immediate opening for the position of field office assistant. All information regarding the job requirements can be found at www.redcross.org. Select "All," then "Germany," and "Service to Armed Forces." Then click on search. Look for position number 8040BR. Those wishing to apply may review the site for full information and submit your application through the Web site. Applications will be accepted Nov. 2-13.

Nov. 5: There will be a Crochet for Beginners class 6-8 p.m. Nov. 5 in Bldg. 124. The cost for the class is $15 and includes the cost of supplies.

Nov. 5: There will be a Woodworking class 6-8 p.m. Nov. 5 in Bldg. 189. The cost is $40. There will be an additional class held Nov. 12.

Nov. 6: There will be a Chief's Promotion Party 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Club Eifel Stripes Lounge to recognize those recently promoted to chief master sergeant. Names are scheduled to be announced Nov. 5.

Nov. 6: The First Four will host an Airmen's Dress to Impress Ball 8 p.m. Nov. 6 to 12:30 a.m. Nov. 7 at the Brick House. Admission is $2 in advance and $3 at the door. Ball caps and tennis shoes are not allowed as this is considered a "Dress to Impress, red-carpet" event. A live DJ, professional photographer and full bar will be available. Nov. 6: There will be a Girl Scout Founder's Day celebration 4-6 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Spangdahlem Chapel Annex. The event is free, but participants are encouraged to bring something to donate to a local animal shelter. Nov. 7: There will be a Ladies Bowling with SMART Girls Program event 2-5 p.m. Nov. 7. Pick up for the event will be at the Bitburg Youth/Teen Center at 1:30 p.m. and Spangdahlem Youth/Teen Center at 2 p.m. Participants must rent shoes and purchase games on their own. Nov. 13-15: The 2009 Eifel Holiday Bazaar will be held Nov. 13-15 in hangars one and two on Spangdahlem. More than 80 vendors from around Europe will be selling wine, furniture, clothing, jewelry, tapestries, paintings, antiques, home goods, pottery, etc. Volunteers are also needed, and will be able to shop two hours before the bazaar opens. Bitburg Middle School employment opportunity

Chapel
Beginning Nov. 1, the Protestant 5 p.m. Evangelical Worship service will change to a new name and time. The service, newly title the Protestant Contemporary Worship Service, will be held at 4 p.m. at the Spangdahlem Base Chapel in Bldg. 135. FSS late-night hours
-The Skelton Memorial Fitness Center is open 24 hours Monday - Friday.
-The Brick House is open until 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
-The Eifel Lanes Bowling Center is open until 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. This trial will end in January.
-The Club Eifel Lounge will be open until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, but will close if no customers are present at 1 a.m.

Pre-separation briefing
Remember that it is mandatory for Airmen separating to attend a pre-separation briefing. Members can attend up to one year in advance if separating or two years in advance if retiring. Briefings are held 9 a.m. Thursdays at the Airman & Family Readiness Center. To sign up for the briefing, call the A&FRC at DSN 452-6422.

Retiree Activities Office
The retiree activities office is now open and located in Bldg. 2001, room 201 in the Bitburg Annex French Kaserne. The office is open from 11 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. every Friday and by appointment. The retiree office acts as a liaison between the Air Force and retired Air Force members to help transition to retired status, help solve retiree problems and lobby Congress.
